The Sexual Assault Crisis Center operates a hotline, 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide services to victims of rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse. Victim advocates respond to the needs of the victim and accompany and support her/him throughout the hospital emergency room visit. Short-term professional counseling is available during the aftermath of the sexual assault.

The center also offers short-term individual and group counseling to adult survivors of sexual abuse, as well as counseling to children and adolescents. There is a six-month limit to counseling services.

In all cases, suspected child abuse, including adults abused as children, is reported to the Department of Social Services for the initial evaluation process, as required by law.

The center provides professional training and community education to groups in the county. Training is also offered to the volunteers who staff the 24-hour hotline and provide hospital accompaniment for victims.

The General Crisis Hotline is a 24-hour service that provides telephone crisis intervention, information and referrals by trained volunteers to County residents. Calls can be made anonymously, and all information is confidential. Information and referrals are also given to help in locating community services that may be needed.
