Job Description
Nature of Work: The lead or advanced level of work in the Medical Assistance Eligibility and Enrollment Program. Apply, interpret and process program-specific information, policies, regulations and guidelines in a variety of program-related activities. Assign, review, and approve the work of lower-level Medical Care Program Associates and oversee the work of clerical support staff. Expected to work at a fast pace with efficiency, organization and accuracy. Minimum requirements include three years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or state entitlement program. Knowledge of Medicaid policies, Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR), eligibility income requirements, regulations relevant to health care delivery systems including but not limited to eligibility income requirements, immigrant coverage groups, household composition, and understanding of the difference between Modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) and Non-MAGI populations, triage of complex Medicaid eligibility issues to resolve coverage delays. Ability to understand, access and operate various computer information systems, specifically Google Suites (Gmail, Sheets, Google Drive, Calendar, Docs). Knowledge of how to navigate the Medicaid Management Information System, Maryland Health Connection, Eligibility and Enrollment database, and Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE). Ability to lead a team, offer training to new staff, assist with complex Medicaid cases and investigate to problem-solve coverage issues. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Experience communicating and interacting effectively with co-workers, supervisors and members of the public, providing timely and accurate assistance and follow-up. |
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university. |
Notes: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate with two years of experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or state entitlement program, and/or in coordination of care may be considered in place of required education. |
Desired or Preferred Qualifications: Basic understanding of private health insurance plans available through Maryland Health Connection. Bilingual preferred and must be able to complete a reading, writing and speech basic test. |
