Job Description
Nature of Work: Receive incoming telephone calls from Medicaid clients requesting transportation to medical appointments, screening each caller for the following criteria: medical necessity, non-emergency nature, no alternate means of transportation, verification that service is obtained at the closest location, verification that the Medical Assistance number is valid, that the service to be provided is covered by Medicaid, and checks Motor Vehicle Administration Records. Inquire whether an attendant and/or wheelchair accessibility are needed, and provide adequate notification time for the appointment (requests must be made 48 hours in advance). Provide the vendor/contractor with daily documentation of all approved clients and pertinent information to complete the transport, including mode of transportation, appointment time and appointment location. Maintain adequate filing for transportation documents, including approvals, no-shows, denials, client complaints, and other documents related to eligibility standards. Enter the client transportation activity in the computer database. Maintain required annual documentation of eligibility. Must display a willingness and ability to fulfill requests from supervisors for special assignments which will enhance the efficiency or effectiveness of the program: activities are generally clerical in nature. Must be reliable in attendance and punctual, providing for adequate coverage in times of pre-scheduled absences and must utilize time in an efficient manner. Must display tact and professionalism when dealing with co-workers, clients and the general public. Must be dependable, adaptable and cooperative in accepting direction from authorities. Must display initiative and willingness to learn. Respond to call-down drills or actual emergency events as soon as possible, regardless of when the message is received. |
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED) |
Experience: One year customer service experience. |
Notes: Responsible for scheduling non-emergency transportation services for Medical Assistance (MA) recipients in Anne Arundel County. Scheduling duties include initial and quarterly client screenings; the determination of MA eligibility; the recording of appointments; the verification of provider eligibility, and the communication of appointments, program guidelines and pertinent information to clients. Expected to demonstrate professionalism, compassion and understanding while reserving judgement in all communications with clients. |
Desired or Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with medical assistance is preferred but not required. Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel. |
