Full-Time County Contractual
Position open to all qualified candidates.
Location: 1950 Drew Street, Annapolis, MD 21401
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Benefits: Participation in the County’s group health plan including prescription, dental, and optical, paid holidays and sick leave. Optional deferred compensation program at employee's own expense.

Job Description

Nature of Work:

Provide nursing case management to patients with active tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis infection. Duties include completing intake interviews, physical assessment of patients, phlebotomy and collection of other laboratory specimens, dispensing tuberculosis medications and administering them by direct observed therapy, and educating patients and their families about known effects of the medications versus adverse reactions. Meet patients in the clinic and at home visits. Expected to document all patient interactions in the electronic medical record. Must be able to stand, walk, bend and lift 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: 

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

A minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.

License or Certification:

Active Registered Nurse License, BLS CPR Certification.

Notes:

Must have a valid driver’s license and an insured private vehicle available to drive to home visits.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with case management of patients with active tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis infection. Ability to assess patients using the nursing process and critical thinking skills. Experience working with culturally diverse populations. Experience in making home visits utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment. Experience with electronic medical records and data entry software. Fluency in Spanish, or another language, in addition to English.
