Job Description
Nature of Work: Manage the WIC Program English and Spanish phone lines, schedule appointments, respond to email inquiries, provide program information and perform precertification interviews with prospective clients. Perform a wide range of clerical support tasks. Translate WIC education materials to Spanish and assist with translation during nutrition counseling sessions. Maintain FMNP activities per State WIC policies and procedures. Under the direction of the Office Supervisor, the WIC Services Associate Trainee is the entry level of work providing paraprofessional services to WIC clients such as income eligibility determination, health screening, health care and other referrals, and basic nutrition education. Employees in this class do not have supervisory responsibilities. May require travel to locations throughout the County. |
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED) |
Experience: Must be bilingual in Spanish and English. Two years of customer service experience in health or human service delivery, performing tasks such as program eligibility determination, health screening, client referral services or nutrition education. |
Notes: Completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the experience requirement. |
Desired or Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish. WIC experience is preferred. |
