Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Job Description

Nature of Work:

A detail-oriented finance professional to support the Department of Health's budgeting, financial reporting and grant management operations. Performs advanced budgeting and financial analysis functions to ensure compliance with Anne Arundel County, the Maryland Department of Health and other funding agency requirements.

Responsibilities include developing and monitoring operating and grant budgets; preparing financial reports and budget modifications; analyzing revenues and expenditures; processing grant reimbursements; maintaining funding and staff allocation records; and supporting special financial projects. Assists with fiscal year-end reporting and reconciliation activities for county, state and federally funded programs.

Ideal candidates will possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, with experience in governmental accounting, budgeting, grants administration and financial reporting preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, acounting or business or related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

Three years in grant evaluation and monitoring or budget preparation, presentation and execution.

Notes:

Requires an advanced level of skill with Microsoft Excel, Word and Access. Excellent communication skills are a must as this position will interact with grantees, Department Administration and other community partners. Assignments require creative, analytical and evaluative thinking.

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in finance, accounting, grants administration or a related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Candidates qualifying under this substitution must demonstrate progressively responsible experience in activities such as financial reporting, monitoring and forecasting.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in the financial or accounting field. Experience with financial reconciliation and audits.
