Department of Health Announces Notice of Funding Availability for Community Coalition Implementation Grants
The Anne Arundel County Department of Health is issuing a Request for Applications (RFA) to award multiple Community Coalition Implementation Grants. These grants are intended for community organizations to lead local coalitions in implementing evidence-based prevention strategies to reduce substance misuse, particularly focusing on underage drinking and youth binge drinking.
Eligible applicants must be community-based organizations, such as private nonprofits or for-profit corporations, with the experience and capacity to reach the target population. Organizations must be in good standing with all applicable federal, state and local requirements.
Grant usage and activities funding must be used to develop and implement culturally competent, evidence-based environmental prevention strategies and programs specifically designed to reduce the prevalence of substance misuse in the community at the local level. The award recipient must utilize the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) five-step process: Assessment, Capacity, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation.
Eligible activities supported by grant funds include, but are not limited to:
- Organizing and facilitating monthly coalition meetings.
- Overseeing the implementation of environmental prevention strategies.
- Coordinating and providing community Naloxone training sessions.
- Providing Responsible Beverage Service training.
- Funding required personnel, such as a Coalition Coordinator.

Award Information: The initial award is for Fiscal Year 2027, covering the period of October 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. This grant may be eligible for up to three annual renewal periods, subject to satisfactory performance and the continued availability of funds.
