Contest Rules & Guidelines
- Eligibility:
- This contest is open to all students currently enrolled in Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) who are between the ages of 12 and 18 at the time of submission.
- Theme:
- Videos must focus on the downsides and dangers of vaping. Submissions should aim to educate peers and the community on the health risks, social consequences, or other negative impacts associated with vaping.
- Video Specifications:
- Length: Videos must be exactly :15 seconds OR exactly :30 seconds in length. Videos that are longer or shorter than these specific durations will be disqualified.
- Content: Videos should be original, impactful, and appropriate for a school-aged audience. Submissions must not contain any graphic content, profanity, offensive, or discriminatory language.
- Format: (Details regarding file format, resolution, etc., will be provided upon official contest launch. Typically, MP4 or MOV are preferred.)
- Consent & Waivers:
- Mandatory: Any individual who appears in the video must sign a Consent Waiver Form.
- For any individual appearing in the video who is under the age of 18, their parent or legal guardian must also sign the Consent Waiver Form.
- Videos submitted without completed and signed Consent Waiver Forms for all featured individuals will be disqualified. Waiver forms will be made available through your school's administration or the AACPS website.
- Distribution & Publicity Rights:
- By submitting a video to this contest, the student(s) acknowledge and agree that if their video is selected as a winner or a finalist, Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) retains the right to distribute, display, and utilize the video across multiple platforms. These platforms may include, but are not limited to, the AACPS website, social media channels, local television, educational presentations, and other promotional materials, without further compensation.
- Prizes:
- Winners will receive Apple Gift Cards. The specific value of the gift cards will be announced with the contest launch.
- Group Submissions:
- Group submissions are permitted. If a video submitted by a group is selected as a winner, the prize (Apple Gift Card) will be awarded to the group, and it will be the responsibility of the group members to split the prize among themselves. AACPS will not facilitate the division of prizes for group entries.

- Judging Criteria:
- Videos will be judged based on:
- Clarity of Message: How effectively does the video communicate the downsides of vaping?
- Creativity & Originality: Is the video unique, engaging, and innovative?
- Impact: Does the video have the potential to resonate with and influence its target audience?
- Production Quality: (Consideration of video and audio quality, editing, etc. - within reason for student-level production).
