Recreational Water Quality Alert Lifted for South River at Londontown

UPDATE: Annapolis, MD (July 7, 2023) – The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has lifted the direct water contact advisory for Midland Beach in Londontown. On July 5, the Department issued an advisory to avoid swimming and other direct water contact, due to high bacteria levels. The Department of Health has removed advisory signs at Midland Beach.


Annapolis, MD (July 5, 2023) – The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has issued a health advisory for South River at Londontown, Midland Beach due to high bacteria levels. 

The Department advises against swimming, waterskiing and other direct water contact activities. 

Beaches are tested regularly during the summer as part of the Department's recreational water quality sampling program. Advisories remain in effect until water samples show bacteria levels to be at an acceptable level that meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standard.
