Advisory Issued for Boyds Cove (Maccubins Cove) off of the South River in Annapolis Due to a Sewage Spill

Annapolis, MD (08/14/2025) – The Department of Health has issued a public health advisory for Boyds Cove (Maccubins Cove) off of the South River in Annapolis due to a sewage spill.

The Department of Health advises against swimming, waterskiing and other direct water contact activities. This advisory is in effect for 1 (one) week following the spill.

The Department of Health posted public health advisory signs to let the public know about the advisory. People coming in contact with the affected water are advised to wash well with soap and warm water immediately. Clothing should also be washed.


NOTE: The Department of Public Works (DPW) successfully stopped the leak and completed the repairs. The spill was contained and it was a total of 6,100 gallons. DPW vacuumed all the standing water, cleaned the roadway, and spread lime on the grass.
