Supports the Dental Program in the provision of dental disease prevention, and clinical services to the residents of Anne Arundel County. This position focuses on preventative oral health, including, but not limited to, oral hygiene techniques, prophylaxis, preventive procedures, patient education and community outreach. Individual must be a graduate from an accredited dental hygiene program and possess a current Maryland Dental Hygiene license.

Must be able to perform dental cleanings; apply fluoride and medicinal agents; prepare patients and organize equipment to facilitate dental treatment; obtain medical histories; maintain dental files, charts, and records; sterilizes and maintains dental instruments, equipment, supplies, medications, and the dental room; exposes and develops x-rays; participates in surveys to determine the prevalence of tooth decay or periodontal disease; takes impressions of the mouth for study models; may assign, review and approve the work of dental assistants and other non-licensed staff; performs other related duties.

Determined by the Maryland Board of Dental Examiners under the licensing requirements for Dental Hygienist.

• Must possess and maintain a current certification as a Dental Hygienist from the Maryland Board of Dental Examiners.
• Must possess and maintain a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
• Possession of a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
