County Contractual 12-Month Position with Benefits

Location: 791 Aquahart Road, 3rd Floor, Glen Burnie, MD. 21061, with travel to other locations in Anne Arundel County and surrounding jurisdictions as required.
Annual Budgeted Amount: $69,514 per year / $33.42 per hour
Benefits: Participation in the county’s group health plan (including prescription, dental and optical), paid holidays, annual leave, personal leave and sick leave. The selected candidate may also participate in the county’s deferred compensation program at his or her own expense.
Nature of Work: Under the supervision of the Nursing Program Manager and Nursing Program Supervisor for School Health Operations, this position provides professional nursing services in support of the School Health Services Program. Specifically, the position will be responsible for recruiting candidates, screening applications and participating in interview panels for Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, CNA/CMT Health Assistants, and Vision and Hearing Screening Technicians to staff school health rooms and provide substitute health room staff in 128 Anne Arundel County Public Schools, serving 85,000 students. The position will function as a liaison to educational institutions offering training for Registered Nurses and ancillary School Health support staff located in Anne Arundel County and neighboring jurisdictions. In addition, the position will perform designated training and staff development duties for licensed and certified School Health Services staff.
The position requires frequent travel to educational institutions and regional job fairs to recruit School Health staff. The selected applicant must provide their own transportation, possess a driver’s license valid in the State of Maryland, and will receive reimbursement for official travel expenses per County policies.
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurse.
Experience: Two years of experience as a registered nurse in a school health or pediatric health care setting
Desired or Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with the following attributes:
- Five or more years of experience as a school health nurse in an organization comparable to the size of the Bureau of School Health and Support.
- Two or more years of experience as a direct supervisor of LPNs or Certified Medical Technicians in a school health setting.
- Experience making public presentations on school health related nursing topics to both large and small audiences.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work tasks in a fast moving environment.
- Intermediate to advanced levels of software skills using Microsoft Office or Google products.
- Ability to set up and host online meetings and interviews using Zoom or other online software.
License: Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing.
