The Anne Arundel County Department of Health’s Systems Training, Education and Prevention Office is seeking community organizations to apply for a Maryland Strategic Prevention Framework grant. The grant of approximately $90,000 for Fiscal Year 2020 is to lead the Northern Lights Against Substance Abuse (NLASA) Coalition and implement prevention strategies approved by the Maryland Department of Health listed in NLASA’s strategic plan.
NLASA’s purpose is to assess community needs, build community capacity, create and maintain a strategic plan, implement environmental alcohol prevention strategies, and evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies. The funding must be used for the implementation of culturally competent, evidence-based environmental prevention strategies and programs specifically designed to reduce the prevalence of underage drinking, youth binge drinking and alcohol-related crashes in the community.
