Job Description
Nature of Work:
Working in tandem with the Program Manager for the Health Equity and Racial Justice (HERJ) Office, the consultant will research, advise on and harness health equity strategies for development and implementation of a three-year health equity and racial justice plan that catalyzes policy, system and environmental changes. Discovering local health priorities and emerging health issues through external meetings with county and city agencies, community partners and key stakeholders, will glean recommended policies, programs and strategies to address health equity and racial justice in Anne Arundel County. Leverage a health equity planning process that centers the voices and experiences of Anne Arundel County’s marginalized, under-resourced and vulnerable populations. Prepare compelling presentations and reports on the health equity and racial justice plan for segmented departmental and public audiences. Track, communicate and provide progress in monthly written updates. Develop a plan that satisfies the following, but not limited to, criteria:

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in public health or related field from an accredited college or university. |
Experience:
At least five years of addressing county, state and/or national health disparities and social determinants of health. A minimum of three years of health and/or public policy experience. Demonstrated capacity to think strategically, work within diverse teams and multicultural settings and perform with a high degree of independence. Strong interpersonal, communicational, organizational, analytical and leadership skills. Advanced skills in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. |
Desired or Preferred Qualifications:
Training and/or certification in project management. Experience in leading a jurisdictional community health assessment and planning process. Excellent technical skills in writing, editing, formatting, researching, developing and measuring plans. Professional and tactful in dealing with senior leadership, co-workers, partners, and general public. Dependable, adaptable and cooperative in setting and meeting goals. Demonstrates initiative and possesses extensive subject matter expertise in health equity. |
