Job Description
Nature of Work:
The main purpose of this position is to assist the licensed dentist(s), dental hygienist(s), and the dental program manager, in the direct provision of primary care dental services in order to enhance the dental health care provided to our clients and to promote oral health care. This position requires the employee to assist dentists providing dental care to pediatric clients ages one to 20, pregnant women and adults who are HIV positive. The selected candidate must be able to maintain appropriate hygiene and sterilization protocols to prevent contamination and the spread of infection; prepare the treatment rooms; take x-rays; take impressions; and perform laboratory duties. The candidate must also assist the dentist with procedures by aspirating oral cavities, isolating teeth, retracting lips, cheeks, tongue and flaps; and taking vital signs. The selected candidate must provide basic oral hygiene instructions and record and maintain patient histories and dental procedures. The candidate will also answer phones, schedule appointments, input demographic info using the Patterson Eaglesoft Dental Program and confirm medical assistance coverage using EVS. The selected candidate will also greet patients assist in maintaining adequate dental supply inventories and any other dental duties as assigned. |
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED). |
Experience:
Two years of experience assisting a dentist in the performance of dental care. |
License or Certification:
Must be certified and possess an active dental radiation technologist license from the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners (MSBDE). Candidates must successfully complete CPR training. Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license and have reliable transportation, as this position requires travel between the North County and Annapolis Health Center. |
