Salary: $15.39 per hour

Benefits: Participation in the County’s group health plan (including prescription, dental, and optical). Paid holidays and annual and sick leave are also offered. The selected employee may also participate in the County’s deferred compensation program at his or her own expense.

Job Description

Nature of Work: Under the supervision of the program manager for the Office of Health Equity and Racial Justice, the bilingual community health outreach worker assists with increasing access, communication, community engagement and educating residents about the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine in communities that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. This position assists with educating, registering and assisting with transportation to/from vaccine clinics. The selected candidate will act as a liaison between the Department of Health and the community, and must have excellent customer service skills along with experience collecting data, using electronic databases and other computer software packages. The selected candidate will be required to have a personal vehicle available for use with mileage reimbursement provided per Department of Health policies. The candidate will also be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. The candidate will be required to work day shift, evening shift and weekends as needed. Individuals fluent in Spanish and English are strongly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a state high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Must be able to read, write and speak proficiently in both English and Spanish. The candidate must have experience with community outreach and engagement, as well as providing health education in the community. Excellent customer service skills are also required.
