Job Description
Nature of Work: Under the direct supervision of the Program Administrator for the HIV/STI Prevention and Care Program, duties include HIV/STls risk reduction education, counseling and referral and community outreach/engagement in order to prevent the transmission of HIV/STls in Anne Arundel County. Duties also require proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry skills. The position requires travel throughout Anne Arundel County. The selected candidate will be required to have a personal vehicle available for use with mileage reimbursement provided per Department of Health policies and will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. May require occasional weekend and evening work. Desire a dynamic, self-starter who is outgoing and can work independently.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: An associate’s degree in public health education, community health education, health science or related behavioral science projects from an accredited community college.
Experience: One year of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education preferred.
Notes: May substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Healthcare Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications: CHES® (Certified Health Education Specialist) certified. Prior STI work experience.
