Salary: $25.00 per hour

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; May require some evening hours

Job Description

Nature of Work: Responsible for developing and implementing a network of buprenorphine services within the county and integrating all service providers (psychiatrists, primary care providers, treatment providers, etc.) into a functional continuum of network. Will conduct outreach, education and technical assistance to community primary care providers and behavioral health providers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to provide outreach to community providers/prescribers to encourage them to become waivered to prescribe buprenorphine.
  • Provide technical assistance to providers once they become waivered. This includes mental health and substance use disorder treatment providers, physicians, nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants.
  • Work with Managed Care Organizations and Federally Qualified Health Centers to develop their provider networks to include waivered providers.
  • Assist in setting up agreements between substance use disorder treatment providers and community prescribers for ongoing care.
  • Provide education, training and technical assistance to prescribers around buprenorphine prescribing and additional treatment resources for their patients.
  • Provide technical assistance to hospitals to start patients on buprenorphine in the emergency department with linkage to next day treatment.
  • Maintain positive professional and sound working relationships with all providers and stakeholders.
  • Organize and market training events with healthcare professionals.
  • Respond to call down drills or actual emergency events as soon as possible, regardless of when message is received.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university


  • Two years of experience in substance use treatment
  • Experience interacting with agencies and other service providers conducting outreach
  • Knowledge and experience in working with individuals with opioid use disorders
  • Knowledge of medications for opioid use disorders

Desired or Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the capacity to motivate individuals and groups with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds as well as produce effective marketing materials and presentations
  • Ability to exhibit a positive, friendly and helpful attitude while maintaining professional boundaries
