FREE Screening Referrals in Anne Arundel County
You can receive referrals for free breast exams, mammograms and Pap tests through the Anne Arundel County Department of Health’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. Eligible women receive coupons for free care. A network of highly skilled, private County health care providers honor these coupons.

What is a mammogram?
A mammogram is an X-ray picture of the breasts. Mammograms detect tumors that cannot be found by a breast exam. A mammogram is slightly uncomfortable for some women … but it can save your life!
What is a Pap test?
A Pap test is a cervical screening performed in your doctor’s office. A small piece of your cervical tissue is taken during an internal exam and is tested to see if there is anything unusual about the cells in the tissue. You will speak directly and confidentially to staff who will help determine if you are eligible for free services. After receiving all required paperwork, you will be scheduled for your well-woman screening appointments.
You Can Get FREE Services If You …
- are 40 years or older,
- have a limited yearly income*,
- have no health insurance or have an insurance program that does not cover mammograms or Pap tests, and
- are a resident of Anne Arundel County.
*Income eligibility changes slightly each year and is based on U.S. federal government guidelines.
