Adolescent Clubhouse Services Grant

Department of Health Announces Notice of Funding Availability for Adolescent Clubhouse Services

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health (AACDOH) is seeking community-based organizations or providers interested in developing and operating two Adolescent Clubhouses in Anne Arundel County.

The goal is to fund two clubhouses and AACDOH may consider offering multiple grant awards depending upon availability of AACDOH and Maryland Department of Health (MDH) funds, and upon the number and quality of submissions.

Development and implementation of each Clubhouse must be initiated by July 1, 2023.

The Adolescent Clubhouse must be located in Anne Arundel County, with preference given to location or locations in the 21401 Annapolis ZIP code or 21225 Brooklyn Park ZIP code, as well as facilities that are not co-located with substance use treatment services. Locations must be an easily accessible, clean and welcoming public space that will allow adolescents ages 12 – 17 (or up to age 18 if youth is still in high school) at risk for and/or recovering from a substance use disorder.

The clubhouse will honor and respect all diverse pathways to recovery and promote person-centered and peer-based services. The services offered should include, but not be limited to, vocational and educational training, self-care and social skills development, peer recovery support, age and developmentally appropriate recovery support groups, resource linkage, volunteer and service opportunities, recovery related workshops and family engagement events.

The clubhouse will include the services of a Young Adult Peer Recovery Support Specialist (YAPRSS) employed by the AACDOH who will engage with youth at the Adolescent Clubhouse in an effort to improve hope and optimism, support symptom reduction, increase self-esteem, build overall health and wellness, reduce workplace stigma surrounding substance use and co-occurring mental and opioid use disorders, and to inform non-peer staff about recovery from a youth perspective.

Interested Anne Arundel County behavioral health providers shall apply to the AACDOH’s Behavioral Health Bureau as described in the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA). Completed applications and supporting documentation should be submitted to bh.community.grants@aacounty.org.
