Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., may require some evening hours
Salary: $35.05 per hour
Annual Budgeted Amount: $72,904.00

Job Description

Nature of Work: Reporting to the Bureau Director of School Health and Support (Community Health Director of Nursing II), will perform a complex level of administrative staff services for the Bureau of School Health and Support. School Health provides school health nursing and support services to 86,000 students in 126 Anne Arundel County elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and special education centers. Develops and prepares required documentation for the bureau’s annual budgets and recommends annual budget allocations of $18 million, provides administrative oversight for the bureau’s contracts and MOU’s, and functions as the bureau’s liaison with the Anne Arundel County Department of Health’s Human Resources staff for recruitment, training and employer relations transactions in support of over 330 School Health staff consisting of employees in State Management Service, State Professional Service, State Skilled Service, 10- and 12-month County Contractual, and a pool of on call county contractual substitutes. Directly supervises one full-time State Merit Administrative Aide, indirectly supervises two full-time Anne Arundel County Government Office Secretaries and one Anne Arundel County Government Office Clerk. Must possess a driver’s license valid in Maryland and must have access to a personal vehicle for travel between locations in Anne Arundel County. Applicant will be reimbursed for travel expenses per Department of Health policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years performing professional level administrative staff work following the completion of the bachelor’s degree.
Notes: May substitute additional graduate level education in public administration, public policy or economics at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications: At least three years of experience performing professional level administrative staff work following the completion of the bachelor’s degree for a federal, state or local government agency (including active duty U.S. military service). Possession of a master’s degree in public administration, public policy, economics or business administration from an accredited college or university.
