3.1.21 – BUPE=HOPE Campaign Encourages Buprenorphine as an Alternative to Opioid Misuse

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health recently launched a BUPE=HOPE campaign that includes public announcement videos. The campaign aims to reduce the stigma and myths attached to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). The campaign targets county physicians who are treating patients for the misuse of heroin, fentanyl and other opioids. Buprenorphine “bupe,” a type of MOUD, can conveniently be prescribed and dispensed in doctor offices and settings other than a certified opioid treatment program. To view the “Stop Using. Start Living” videos, visit https://denialisdeadly.org/bupe.php.

Bupe treatment, which helps prevent withdrawal symptoms and reduce craving, can be fully integrated into general health care and wellness services; and it provides hope for individuals seeking a steady and productive lifestyle at work and home. Bupe treatment is beneficial for families, the economy and the community. Bupe treatment also helps to reduce illicit opioid use, diminishes physical dependency, prevents overdose, and decreases mortality.

The bupe public service announcements, developed by Herrmann Advertising, are running on traditional and social media this winter and spring.
