The Anne Arundel County Department of Health, Environmental Health Bureau will end
annual “wet season” evaluation and percolation tests on Friday, April 29, 2022. Wet
season applications must have been received and percolation tests scheduled by April 1,
2022 to have assured testing during the 2022 season, which began March 22, 2022. Effort
will be made to accommodate testing for applications received after April 1, 2022 and
that have not yet been scheduled, but it cannot be guaranteed.
The wet season test period is set for Anne Arundel County using data from monitoring
wells throughout the County to determine groundwater levels. Wet season testing is
required on County properties that are located in areas where high water table conditions
occur. Testing helps avoid inaccurately assessing the ability of a septic system to
properly function in all seasons of the year. The information provided by the site
evaluation and perc test is used to determine the size and type of septic system that can be
installed on a specific lot.
