Did you know that a few serious sunburns can increase a child's risk of developing skin cancer later in life? Playing outside is an important part of every child’s day, but they need to be protected. Check out the activities, games and other resources below to help teach children about being safe in the sun and staying healthy. Learning Activities – Use these activity sheets to teach children about sun safety in day care or at home.

    Alex at the Pool
  • Protect Your Skin – Show children how both animals and people cover up their skin so they won't get too much sun when they are outdoors.
  • Shade Hunt – Teach children that shaded areas help to provide protection from the sun's rays and help keep our bodies cool.
  • Sponges and Water – Help kids learn about how strong the sun's rays are and how important it is to drink plenty of water.
  • Sprout a Lima Bean – Show kids that everything needs sun to grow – but not too much.
