About Us
The Family Fitness Challenge is sponsored by the Anne Arundel
County Department of Health’s Learn To Live Program
The Learn To Live Program is a community-based program that focuses
on healthy living. For fifteen years, the program has helped thousands of County residents
quit smoking or never start to smoke, encouraged them to get cancer
screenings, offered information about healthy eating and encouraged
them to protect themselves from the sun.
Lack of exercise and poor eating habits place County residents at
increased risk not only for cancer but diabetes and cardiovascular
disease as well. Recent surveys found that one out of four of County adults are obese and an additional 39% are overweight. For school-age children 15.6% are overweight and another 16.9% are at risk of being overweight.
The Family Fitness Challenge is a fun, interactive program designed for County residents of all ages to get Anne Arundel County on the move and eating better! What better way to shape up!
