Linthicum Heights (December 29, 2025) - The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has issued an emergency closing for the Deep Run tributary at 2304 Furnace Avenue and the headwaters of the Patapsco River to Hammonds Ferry Road. The sewage spill came from a privately owned pumping station in Linthicum Heights.
The affected area has been limed and is closed for direct water contact. The emergency closing is in effect until January 4, 2026. The Department of Health will continue to evaluate the water quality in this area and provide updates. People coming in contact with the affected water are advised to wash well with soap and warm water immediately. Clothing should also be washed.
