The Anne Arundel County Department of Health provides the following dental services:

Dental Clinic for Patients Under 21
Provides dental services to County residents who are under the age of 21 on a sliding fee scale, as well as Medical Assistance/MCO dental plans, such as MCHP. This Program also provides specialized dental care, such as fillings, to County children under the age of six.

Preschool Education Program
Provides oral health education that introduces good oral hygiene and nutrition habits to preschool children in Anne Arundel County.

Head Start Case Management
Provides screenings, cleanings and needed treatment to children in the Head Start Program. The program also manages Head Start cases by referring them to special providers, such as pediatric dentists, and by following up with patients and their families to ensure timely service.

Maternity Patient Program
Provides oral health education and screenings through the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program. Participants are educated about the prevention of bottle tooth decay and other oral health issues for babies.

Sealant Program
Provides information on sealants to parents. Uses the Tooth Mobile to provide sealants to eligible children at Annapolis City summer recreation programs. This program informs parents of the importance and preventive benefits of dental sealants and encourages them to seek this service through private dentists, MCO providers or the Health Department's dental clinics.

Special Smiles Education for the Developmentally Disabled provides dental health education at group homes and other programs for the developmentally disabled and for caregivers of the developmentally disabled. The program provides hands-on demonstrations of proper oral hygiene techniques. Through case management, Special Smiles assists residents and caregivers in obtaining dental services through a variety of sources.

Healthy Senior Smiles
Provides oral health education and oral cancer screenings at the County's senior centers.

Anne Arundel Dental Access Program
Provides dental services to the uninsured and the underinsured. Through this cooperative effort, local dentists provide services at reduced fees (25 percent to 35 percent less). Patients are interviewed for eligibility and referred by the Dental Health Program. Eligible patients are given contact information for two general dentists or dental specialists in their area. After making an appointment, the patient is given a fee reduction card that is valid for one year.
