Water Contact Advisories for Glen Isle, Herald Harbor, Lake Claire and Magothy Manor Lifted

July 1, 2011 – The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has lifted the advisory for Glen Isle in Riva, located on the South River, as samples show that bacteria are now at acceptable levels. The advisory was originally issued on June 13 due to high bacteria levels in the water.

On June 24, the Department of Health lifted advisories for Herald Harbor, located on the Severn River in Crownsville, and Lake Claire in Cape St. Claire and Magothy Manor in Arnold, both located on the Magothy River, as samples showed that bacteria were at acceptable levels. The advisories for the three beaches were issued on June 22 due to results of high bacteria levels found in water samples.

Many factors, such as waterfowl, rainfall, water temperature and tidal action, can cause high bacteria readings.
